Biomedical Psychoeducation

This didactic group meets once a week to provide a forum to answer questions about the diagnosis and biological treatments of psychiatric illness. Residents are encouraged to bring questions to be able to develop a richer understanding about current thinking in this increasingly complex field. Topics have ranged from questions about the genetics of bipolar disorder, to interactions between substance abuse and mood disorders, to the way medications do or don’t work. Dr. Aaronson, Assistant Medical Director of The Retreat, the Director of Sheppard Pratt’s Research Division and a leading psychopharmacologist, is the group leader.
