Outpatient Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program (DBT) at The Retreat
The outpatient DBT program at The Retreat is based the empirically supported Dialectical Behavior Therapy model. The program is considered an adjunctive treatment which means it is conducted in addition to the treatment you are already receiving and that it is a time limited treatment. The DBT program helps to treat problems related to emotional dysregulation such as borderline personality disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, and substance abuse. The program is based on helping you to change your thinking and behaviors. This is accomplished by helping you to think differently about yourself, the world, and your future while practicing mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation skills. You must be at least 18 years old to seek admission to this program. The program involves:
1. Intake Evaluation: A one hour evaluation session to review your history and your goals, to provide you with information about the treatment, and to determine whether DBT is the best treatment at this time for your symptoms and goals.
2. A four-month treatment commitment. The treatment contract is renewable provided that the treatment has been effective for you for 2 more four-month cycles totaling one year of DBT treatment.
3. Requires you to remain in individual therapy for at least one hour per week with a therapist (does not need to be a Sheppard Pratt therapist).
4. An agreement from your primary therapist that you participate in the program and that he or she assumes crisis management responsibility.
5. Everyone attends two 90 minute groups per week: (1) Therapy group and (2) Skills Training Group.
6. Attendance for groups is very important. If you miss 3 out of 5 groups, you will have dropped out of the program.
7. Fees: Intake evaluation is $350. Each group is $175 which equals $350 per week. Fees for all groups are collected at the beginning of each month for the entire month. There is no refund for missed sessions. All services are self-pay and insurance is not accepted. You will receive a receipt for services that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement based on the terms of your policy.
