Psychiatrist, The Retreat at Sheppard Pratt
Dr. Carlson is a board certified adult psychiatrist who worked on the Retreat as a psychiatric resident before departing for specialized fellowship training in the field of eating disorders. After completion of her fellowship, she returned to the Retreat as a full time staff psychiatrist. Dr. Carlson has a strong interest in treating anxiety and mood disorders, including treatment resistant depression and panic disorder. While eating disorder issues are not the primary focus of treatment for patients at the Retreat, Dr. Carlson maintains a high degree awareness for these disorders and is available as an educational resource and to make referrals for more intensive eating disorder treatment if needed. Dr. Carlson is also on staff with the Department of Clinical Research Programs at Sheppard Pratt, where she works with research protocols on treatment resistant depression. She is trained in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In addition to her duties on the Retreat, she teaches and supervises future psychiatrists within the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt residency training program.
