Robert P. Roca, MD, MPH, MBA

Vice President of Medical Affairs, Sheppard Pratt Health System

Dr. Roca was named Vice President of Medical Affairs of the Sheppard Pratt Health System in November 2000. He is Board-certified in Internal Medicine, General Psychiatry, and Geriatric Psychiatry, is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, is Past President of the Maryland Psychiatric Society, and currently serves as Chair of the Council on Aging of the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Roca is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the John Hopkins University School of Medicine and Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters on geriatric psychiatry, psychiatric services, suicide risk assessment and mental health treatment in general medical settings.

Dr. Roca has given presentations on many topics related to mental health care, including suicide prevention, evaluation of decision-making capacity, evaluation and treatment of depression in the elderly, and the evaluation and management of the behavioral complications of dementia. His audiences have included the American Geriatrics Society, the American Bar Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, and the Institute of Law and Psychiatry in Richmond, Virginia.
